Mark A. Lopez
Mark A. López, Ph.D. is a change-agent and diversity champion with nearly 20 years of
experience in higher education, education policy, and social justice education and diversity work.
Throughout Dr. López’s career, his experiences have had a considerable role in working with and
on behalf of Latina/o and African American communities from immigrant backgrounds, LGBTQ
individuals and groups, religious and spiritual differences, various regional backgrounds as well
as with students who attend Hispanic-Serving Institutions and Historical Black Colleges and
His expertise includes social justice and diversity education as well as African American and
Latina/o coalition building. Dr. López also has extensive experience in providing leadership in
program development and grants management at the national level, university, and community
colleges levels. His accomplishments include leadership around innovative programming for
marginalized and underrepresented student populations.
Dr. López is a change agent and champion for diversity. He is a visionary leader with a proven
track record of creating and leading effectively across organizational functions and boundaries;
skilled at working with individuals at all levels of an organization or market sector and leading
large scale strategy and program execution. He holds a doctorate in Education Policy from the
University of Maryland, College Park, and a Masters, and Bachelor of Arts degrees from
Arizona State University.
